Building resilience is a critical strategy in developing a self that is able to tolerate adversity and succeed in difficult situations. While many people can persist when things are easy or enjoyable, being resilient means having the ability to manage distress and to bounce back in difficult situations or environments. |What it Takes with Nii Opare-Addo||
In this presentation, we will address the various barriers that students across the country face when seeking help. We will explore various researches on the success rates of college students who seek help versus those who don’t.
In seeking help, the student must identify first, what kind of help the student wants, i.e. financial help, academics, student experience, mental health, etc. We will explore how RPI continues to reaffirm its commitment to student retention, and the various resources readily available on campus to help students be successful during their times at RPI.
During this presentation, we will conduct a few surveys via voting (students will vote with their cell phone. Standard messaging rates will apply) and explore the misconceptions and myths surrounding seeking help. RPI students constantly have a huge load of responsibilities and priorities on their plates, and this presentation’s goal is to help students properly respond to their priorities, sometimes by seeking the right kind of help.

You'll hear about how strange our decision making processes can be and how to avoid time traps. Finally, we will discuss strategies you can employ to practice being more productive and connecting productivity to your values and goals.|
