Claire Gonyo will serve as the undergraduate class dean for the Class of 2021, students who began at the Institute in the fall of 2017. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from SUNY Oneonta and Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University. She also completed a Ph.D. at Michigan State University’s Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Learning program where her dissertation research explored the sense of belonging of Black gay men at predominantly White institutions of higher education (PWIs). Dr. Gonyo comes to Rensselaer with a variety of experience in both student affairs and academic affairs and has worked at institutions including Alfred University, the University of South Florida, the Pennsylvania State University, and Michigan State. She has also conducted research on a variety of topics related to student success during her time at both Michigan State and Western Michigan University. Claire is excited to join the Office for Student Success at RPI, get to know students across the Institute, and assist the Class of 2021 as they navigate their collegiate experience.
