Welcome Families!
 
Pre-registration for Family Weekend 2018 will open at 10AM EST, September 18, 2018!  As you prepare for registration, please note the registration system will not process reservations made through mobile devices including cell phones and tablets.  We recommend utilizing a laptop or desktop computer to ensure success.
 
Please read through all information on this page before proceeding to the online registration system.  If you have any questions as you are planning your visit, please do not hesitate to contact the Student Success Office at 518-276-8022 or email us at parents@rpi.edu
 
Helpful information regarding event registration, hotel accommodations and parking can be found below.  We look forward to meeting you at the Family Weekend Welcome Center at the Heffner Alumni House, where a detailed schedule with all event times and locations will be provided.  Please use the schematic below to begin planning your time on campus.   
 

Pre-Registration for Family Weekend 2018 is now closed.  Additionally, no changes or requests to cancel tickets and/or the entire Family Weekend registration will be honored at this time per the posted cancellation policy. 

On-site registration will be available for interested families at the Family Weekend Welcome Center (operating hours are listed below).  Please note that tickets for events will not be available for on-site sale.

 

Family Weekend Welcome Center Hours

Your first stop on campus will be the Family Weekend Welcome Center at Heffner Alumni House, 1301 Peoples Avenue, where you will get your registration packet and a final detailed program with event details and locations. 
 
Hours:
Friday, October 19 from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
 

Honor’s Convocation

If your student was awarded a Rensselaer Medal, they will be awarded during Honor’s Convocation on Saturday, October 20 from 10AM-12PM.  In the coming weeks your student will receive an invitation through which they’ll need to RSVP for all family members/guests who will be in attendance. Dress for this event is business formal.
 

Athletic Event Ticket Pick Up

If you ordered football and/or hockey tickets for Saturday, October 20 please plan to pick your tickets up at the Family Weekend Welcome Center during the hours listed above.  If your family will not arrive before the Welcome Center closes, please send your student to pick up your check-in packet for you on Friday, October 19.  We are not able to refund for any tickets not picked up from the Family Weekend Welcome Center, and your tickets will not be sent to will-call.

The RPI Players present The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Don Zolidis. Directed by Claudia Howes '20, this show combines the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm in a fast paced play.  The play turns them into one gigantic fable using Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and other more obscure stories like Lean Lisa and The Devil's Grandmother.

An annual event to celebrate the outstanding academic accomplishments of our students and faculty, including the Rensselaer Medalists, the Founders Award of Excellence, 4.0 achievers, and Graduate Fellow recipients.

W2SZ Open House and Contesting                                                                               
Join the RPI Amateur Radio Club for an open house of our "shack"! We will also be participating in the New York QSO Party during this event. The New York QSO Party is a radio contest where ham radio operators try to contact as many operators in New York state as possible.

No partner or experience required.  If you don't like dancing, seating will be provided so you can enjoy the music! Come dance with us!

Join RPI Ambulance for a tour of our rig, a quick lesson in life-saving CPR, and a thrilling chance to give the lights and sirens a whirl.
 
 
 
You may park in any open campus lot during the weekend, but your best option is North Lot (turn south onto 13th off Peoples Avenue, to the rear of the Heffner Alumni House), where you may leave your car for the day and take advantage of our convenient shuttle service. You must have a permit for handicapped spaces, and rules for use of fire lanes and hydrants remain in effect. Shuttle buses will be running continually from the Heffner Alumni House to various campus event locations throughout the weekend.

PLEASE NOTE: The meters on 15th street, 8th street, and Sage Avenue are maintained by the City of Troy. They will be enforced during Family Weekend. If you park in a metered spot, you must put money into the meter!
